Week 4: All About the Properties of Matter

Well, this week we are moving on to looking at other properties of matter. Matter can be described by either its physical or chemical properties.  Physical properties are those characteristics that can be easily observed with our 5 senses or measured with tools, all without destroying the substance in any way shape or form. Chemical properties are those characteristics that occur when the original substance interacts with another substance, CREATING something new.

So what do you think the states of matter and changing of states would be: physical or chemical? If you guessed physical, you're most certainly correct.

Some new vocabulary we will learn this week includes the following: luster, malleability, flammable, density, and ductility.  Perhaps you may know some of these words already. Well, I will see you in class to make more discoveries on this new topic.
