Agenda for April 23-27

Dear Parents,
This week we will begin our Race Car Lab Project.  Please review this week's agenda carefully and ensure that every child is prepared for the days ahead.  It is important that students meet all deadlines this week.  Race cars cannot go home during the week.

Monday
We will finish the Standards Project (Test Grade) during the first half of the class period. This project is due  prior to beginning the lab project. The remaining class time will be used to conduct a supply check for our lab, review the lab handout, work in teams on the problem question and gathering research. We will wrap up the period listening to every team's research.

Tuesday
Class will start on a lesson on building a testable hypothesis.  Groups will then build the hypothesis for our lab and share.  Then we will create our materials list.  The race car templates will be distributed to each team and the remainder of the class will be used to draw and cut out cars from the cardboard boxes.

Wednesday
All car parts should be cut out and students will begin following the instructions for putting their cars together.  Each individual person within a team will receive special instructions regarding the wheels of their cars that must be followed.

Thursday
We will continue building our cars.  Students must test and retest their cars to ensure that they can travel at least 2 meters on our test track.  Once cars can meet these guidelines the decorating/painting can begin.  Students should wear old clothes for the painting process.

Friday
We will continue painting and decorating today. Today is the last day to work on the cars.  On Monday we will  conduct the actual experiment outside.  Cars will remain at school to dry.
